How do I clean a Lamp Shade ?

What is the best way to clean Lamp Shades?

Various sites on the internet have suggested that cloth lampshades can be washed in water.  I would treat this advice with some caution simply because it is often difficult in this day and age to accurately work out what the shade is made of.

A much safer option is to use a micro fibre cloth such a one produced by Norwex.  They suggest using the Dusting Mitt.

The Dusting Mitt can be used wet or dry and is ideal for quick, chemical-free dusting throughout the house, including blinds, screens and other hard-to-clean areas. With its thick texture; dense, plush fibers and unique mitt design, the Dusting Mitt attracts and holds dust and allergens and won’t let them go. BacLock™*; in the cloth—our micro silver antibacterial agent—goes to work to self- purify and inhibit bacterial odors, mold and mildew growth within the mitt.

If the shade is past it use by date and will not clean we at Direct Lighting Albany have about 200 different shades in stock.

Replacing the shade with a new one will freshen the room and give new life to an old Lamp base.
